. “GE Appliances Take Flight with Einride’s Drone Truck on its First Full-Time Job!

It’s no secret that the future of transportation seems to be trending towards a hybrid of human drivers and autonomous technology. We’re seeing a lot of vehicles coming out with some level of self-driving capability, from cars to buses to drones. But one new technology has the potential to revolutionize transportation, as well as the way goods are moved around: Einride’s drone truck.

Einride’s drone truck is an electric vehicle that looks like a traditional truck, but has no cabin or driver’s seat. Instead, it is operated remotely with the help of technology from an outside control center. The truck can travel up to 125 km/h and has a range of up to 200 km on a single charge. The vehicle can also be autonomous but requires at least one supervisor present at all times.

Einride’s drone truck has recently hit a major milestone, as it has been chosen to transport packages and goods for General Electric, making it the first autonomous truck to be hired for a full-time job. The truck will be travelling from a GE appliance facility in the Southwest of Sweden to a distribution center in Gothenburg.

Not only will this arrangement benefit GE in terms of cost savings, but it will also help reduce CO2 emissions, as the drone truck uses far less fuel than a traditional truck. It’s estimated that the drone truck will reduce emissions by a massive 90%. This is a major environmental breakthrough, as reducing emissions is becoming an increasingly important part of logistics.

Einride’s drone truck is just the beginning, however. With this full-time job, Einride has opened the door to larger opportunities and it looks likely that the technology will be adopted by other companies and even governments in the near future.

One thing’s for sure: Einride’s drone truck is a glimpse into the future of transportation, and it’s something to be very excited about!
